Emergency Response (GIS based) Flood Mapping for Ipswich City Council

Ipswich Rivers Flood Studies Rationalisation Project for Ipswich City Council/Ipswich Rivers Improvement Trust– Hydrology components of this project which in concert with a parallel project by Brisbane City Council is rationalising various models of the Brisbane River/Bremer River system.  This has included Monte Carlo simulation studies for the estimation of 100 year flood flows based on a large number of RAFTS model runs and re-estimation of flood flows for a range of flood frequencies, and hydrodynamic modelling (MIKE 11)

Review of flood modelling (hydrology and hydraulics) and recommendations for improvement.   

Review of Independent Review Panel report on Brisbane River flooding, as it affects flood levels in Ipswich.   

Preparation of guideline for flood overlay for new Town Planning Scheme.   

Preparation of Action Plans for automation of property flood searches and for flood emergency response mapping and assistance with implementation .

Natural Disaster Risk Management

Flood Vulnerability Assessment Study for Four Urban Agglomerations in Gujarat, India - Team Leader for this major World Bank funded project.

Natural Disaster Risk Management Plans - Project Manager.  Ten of these studies for Queensland Local Authorities which comprised identification of natural hazards faced by the community, estimation and description of vulnerability to the hazards to determine risks; determination of which risks are unacceptable; development of risk registers and development of strategies to reduce or mitigate the risks. 

External Audit of Gold Coast City Counter Disaster Plan.    

Preparation of funding application for natural disaster management study, and preparation of Project Plan.
